Mercato: Barcelona favourite for Andrea Cambiaso after Chelsea's interest

Juventus Italian side Andrea Cambiaso, close to a departure for Manchester City last winter, would now be courted primarily by FC Barcelona. Chelsea would also have followed him recently, but Di Marzio and Fabrizio Romano see Barcelona on pole to conclude the operation this summer.
The transfer window around Andrea Cambiaso takes a new turn. After contacts and a displayed interest from Chelsea this week, the versatile side of Juventus would now be the priority of FC Barcelona, according to Sky Sport Italia and transfer specialists Gianluca Di Marzio and Fabrizio Romano.
The 26-year-old had already come close to a departure to Manchester City in January 2025, a deal eventually stalled due to injuries and various issues. Chelsea has been cited as a follower club in recent days, but the latest information gives the advantage to the Catalan club, which has been following the file for several months — Sportitalia already mentioned its name in March.

Juventus could be pushed to give up one of its offensive elements on the flanks this summer in order to fund further reinforcements, which could accelerate a transfer. Cambiaso, bought 15.5 million euros in Genoa in 2022, can move to the right as well as to the left, laterally or in a piston, which increases its appeal for several contenders.
On the accounting front, the Albenga native has scored three goals and delivered five assists in 47 appearances in all competitions this season with Juventus. These figures, added to its versatility, explain the continued interest of leading clubs in Europe.
It now remains to be seen if Barcelona will concretize its lead on the file or if a rival — Chelsea or another contender — will come to shake up the race this summer. Anyway, Cambiaso is one of the profiles to follow during the transfer window.
