2026 World Cup: Germany crushes Curacao 6-1 on the first day of Group E

The German team dominated Curaçao 6-1 in their first match of the 2026 World Cup, thanks in particular to goals from Felix Nmecha, Nico Schlotterbeck, Kai Havertz, Jamal Musiala, Nathaniel Brown and Deniz Undav.

The group stage of the 2026 World Cup was kicked off between Germany and Curacao in Group E. The match takes place at NRG Stadium in Houston, USA, under the direction of Moroccan referee Jalal Jayed. From the 6th minute, Felix Nmecha opened the score for the Mannschaft, launching the match perfectly.

But Curacao reacted quickly with Livano Comenencia equalising in the 21st minute. A few minutes later, in the 38th, Nico Schlotterbeck gave the Germans back the advantage. Just before the break, Kai Havertz converted a penalty in the 45 +5th, bringing the score to 3-1 in favor of Germany.

After returning from the locker room, the German festival continued: Jamal Musiala scored the 4th goal in the 47th minute, followed by Nathaniel Brown who scored the 5th in the 68th. Finally, in the 78th minute, Deniz Undav finished the demonstration with a 6th goal, sealing a landslide victory for the Mannschaft.

This success ideally launches the German campaign in Group E where it will then face Côte d 'Ivoire on 20 June, then Ecuador on 25 June. Curacao will have to raise its head against Ecuador on 21 June and Côte d 'Ivoire on 25 June. The group stage, which is played in round-robin, runs from June 11-27, with the top two teams from each group and the top eight thirds who will qualify for the knockout stages.
