Alessandro Del Piero plans to buy and relaunch Rimini

Alessandro Del Piero, former emblematic Juventus player, could become the face of a group of investors seeking to acquire and revitalize Rimini, an Italian club that disappeared from Serie C following a major financial crisis.
According to several Italian media, Alessandro Del Piero, legend of Juventus and the Italian national team, is leading a consortium interested in the purchase and relaunch of the Rimini club. The latter was declared bankrupt and excluded from Serie C last season. In September, Rimini received a 15-point penalty for various administrative irregularities, which led to the downgrading and then dissolution of the club due to serious financial difficulties.

The current holders of the rights and assets of the club are looking for a buyer. According to information from Calciomercato.com released on Saturday, the group around Del Piero could soon take control. The consortium would be accompanied by a “mystery” commercial partner, an investor having participated in several recent projects of the former Turin striker.
Furthermore, a first telephone contact has already taken place between Del Piero and Jamil Sadegholvaad, mayor of Rimini. Although no formal offer has yet been submitted, these prospects are very enthusiastic among residents and local leaders, who see this operation as a major opportunity for the revival of the historic club.
