Ange Postecoglou is back in the world of professional coaching. The Australian coach has been appointed head of Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr and has signed a two-year contract, the club announced.
This appointment comes after a period of nine months away from the benches, following his departure from Tottenham Hotspur, which took place after the Europa League victory in May 2025. In the meantime, Postecoglou had a brief experience at Nottingham Forest before remaining without a position for several months.
Al-Nassr, led on the field by its captain Cristiano Ronaldo, was looking for a new technician after the departure of Jorge Jesus. The Portuguese coach left the club after a successful season, during which he led the team to the national title. It is in this context that the Saudi leadership surprised by turning to Postecoglou.

The new coach arrives with a track record that includes significant successes abroad. He stood out at the head of the Australian selection, before confirming his talent in Europe with Celtic, and recording notable success in Japan with the Yokohama Marinos. These international experiences have helped to build its reputation and partly explain the interest of a Saudi club seeking new impetus.
The Saudi Pro League has established itself in recent seasons as a destination where clubs spare no effort to attract high-level profiles, both among the players and among the technical staff. The arrival of Postecoglou is part of this dynamic and shows Al-Nassr's ambition to continue its sporting project after the Jorge Jesus cycle.
With the club not providing further public details for the moment, the precise schedule of Postecoglou's first match on the Saudi bench and the exact composition of the accompanying staff remain to be confirmed. For supporters, the appointment of a coach with an international background and recognized methods raises expectations: he will have to quickly adapt to a squad where world star Cristiano Ronaldo plays a central role.
On a personal level, Postecoglou thus finds a main role after a period of relative inactivity and will have to prove that he can transpose his past successes into the particular context of Saudi football. His two-year contract will give him a time frame to launch his new adventure at Al-Nassr and try to achieve new successes.
The rest
Postecoglou will have to quickly adapt to the dynamics of the Saudi Pro League and the pressure of coaching a top team like Al-Nassr. His first challenge will be to maximize the potential of key players, including Cristiano Ronaldo, to continue competing for titles. Fans are eagerly waiting to see how he will integrate his playing methods and management style into this new context.
