With the stakes high, every point is vital for England in their quest for top spot in the group.

This Saturday, England travel to Croatia for a highly anticipated Nations League fixture, but in unprecedented circumstances: the match will be played behind closed doors. In this particular context, Thomas Tuchel, coach recognized for his demands, preferred to warn the Three Lions against any excess of confidence or relaxation before facing the Croatian selection.
The Nations League represents an opportunity for England to confirm its European ambitions and continue the positive dynamic initiated during the last World Cup and the Euro. Faced with a Croatian team in the process of rebuilding but still formidable, the stakes are high. But the absence of supporters in the stands could sow doubt and influence the minds of the players.
For Thomas Tuchel, the main risk would be to approach this meeting with a “vacation mentality”, without the tension or intensity usually expected during major European evenings. "We must approach each international meeting with seriousness and determination. A match behind closed doors can give the illusion of a friendly, but the competition is very real and every point counts for the rest of the tournament", remind the observers.
England is logically aiming for first place in the group to reach the final four of the Nations League and thus send a strong message to their future European adversaries, less than two years before the 2026 World Cup. For their part, Croatia is seeking to regain its stability and offer a solid match despite the absence of the public, traditionally considered its “twelfth man”.
The Nations League, organized by UEFA since 2018, aims to increase the interest of national teams outside major tournaments, by offering more balanced and competitive matches than simple friendly matches. For England as for Croatia, this match is a real test of character and ambition to prepare for the next international events.
This duel, even behind closed doors, will be closely scrutinized by followers of European football and will serve as a barometer to judge the ability of the two nations to remain concentrated in unusual conditions. Tuchel's words therefore sound like a warning: no relaxation is allowed at this level, even if the atmosphere in the stadium seems less electric than usual.
