Aston Villa relaunch their track for Kevin Viveros
By OnzeActu · · 5 min read
Aston Villa are once again interested in Kevin Viveros. Athletico Paranaense would demand more than €30m, while Villa would consider an offer in excess of €20m; It remains to be seen whether Unai Emery will justify a financial effort to complete the transfer.
Why it matters
Aston Villa's renewed interest in Kevin Viveros underlines the Premier League club's desire to strengthen its attack. With 19 goals in 27 Brasileirão games, Viveros has established himself as a valuable asset, which could have a significant impact on Aston Villa's season if the transfer goes through. In addition, his recent call-up to the Colombian selection could increase his attractiveness on the European market.
Context
Athletico Paranaense striker Kevin Viveros has had a remarkable season in the Brasileirão, which has attracted the attention of Aston Villa. His impressive performance and recent selection for the Colombian national team strengthens his profile in the transfer market, making his potential move all the more interesting for the English club.

Viveros was already followed by Villa – and by Sunderland – during the last summer transfer window, recalls the same media. His season in Brazil strengthened his appeal on the market: the Athletico Paranaense striker reportedly scored 19 goals in 27 Brasileirão matches, establishing himself among the top scorers in the championship. He notably scored in the 2-2 against Atlético Mineiro and obtained his first call-up to the senior selection with Colombia, recognition which could facilitate his attractiveness abroad.

The main obstacle to an agreement between the two clubs is the difference in evaluation. RTI Esporte indicates that Athletico Paranaense would expect more than €30 million (or around £26 million) for its center forward, almost €10 million more than the range mentioned by Aston Villa. This gap weighs in the negotiations: Athletico has a solid position since Viveros is linked to the club until 2028, with an automatic extension mechanism included in his contract. Discussions on a salary increase took place, but they recently came to a halt after the intervention of President Mario Celso Petraglia.
On a sporting level, Viveros presents an interesting profile for Unai Emery: acceleration, physical power and pressing intensity, capable of playing on the right wing as well as up front. These characteristics could offer additional solutions to Villa, already blessed with Nicolas Jackson, Tammy Abraham and young Brian Madjo. The question for the technical staff remains whether the requested investment corresponds to a player who would immediately strengthen the first team or whether it is a medium-term bet.
Beyond the amount, other practical points will weigh: the validation of a work permit in England and the uncertainty over the transposition of the performances of the Brasileirão to the Premier League. Aston Villa could consider a mixed payment structure (fixed portion + bonus) to reduce financial risk, but only a significant adjustment to the offer would make it possible to reconcile positions and initiate concrete discussions between clubs. It remains to be seen whether Emery and the recruitment unit will consider that Viveros is worth this budgetary effort.
The rest
Aston Villa will have to navigate delicate negotiations with Athletico Paranaense, who are demanding more than €30m for Viveros. If Villa wishes to finalize this transfer, Unai Emery will have to justify a financial effort to close the valuation gap. What happens next will also depend on whether Viveros can obtain a work permit to play in the Premier League.
