Barcelona ready to make €130m offer for Julián Álvarez, according to The Athletic

According to The Athletic, Barcelona intends to submit an offer of around €130 million for Julián Álvarez once the World Cup is over. Atlético is demanding the €500 million clause but the Catalan club is counting on the striker's public desire to leave and on sales to finance the transfer.
The Julián Álvarez saga is not over. According to The Athletic, FC Barcelona is preparing a new proposal of around 130 million euros to Atlético Madrid to try to secure the striker's signature once the World Cup is over. This relaunch comes after public statements by Álvarez expressing his wish to leave the Spanish capital, judged by the Catalan club as an important lever in the matter.
Atlético Madrid nevertheless remains firm: the Madrid club does not want to sell its best player to a direct La Liga rival for less than the release clause set at €500 million. Despite this financial wall, Barcelona has not given up and believes it can put together an offer close to €130 million, counting on transfers to complete the operation, the club continuing to suffer from economic constraints.
Relations between the two clubs have been tense in recent weeks, but Barcelona leaders hope that Atlético will at least agree to start discussions. The Catalans' plan would therefore be to formalize a concrete proposal after the World Cup, banking on the player's stated desire to push Madrid to negotiate.
To finance such a transfer, Barcelona is targeting several departures. Ansu Fati should thus join Monaco, the purchase option of €11 million having to be activated. Marc Casado is another player likely to leave: his agent Jorge Mendes would work on avenues, including Saudi Arabia, and Barça would hope to recover around €25 million for the midfielder.
On the defensive side, the Catalan club wanted to strengthen its rear this summer - one of the reasons why it did not pursue the Marc Cucurella file, finally signed by Real Madrid: to attract him, Barcelona would have previously had to offload Alejandro Balde, an operation which did not materialize.
In the end, the transfer of Álvarez remains far from certain. But with an offer planned at around €130 million and the player's public desire to join the Camp Nou, Barcelona intends to try its luck after the end of the international tournament.
