Barcelona is overtaken by Liverpool for Victor Munoz, blocked by Real Madrid

The summer transfer window offered fierce competition around Victor Munoz, a young Spanish winger who broke out this season under the colors of Osasuna. FC Barcelona had set its sights on this versatile talent, capable of playing on the entire attacking front and already international with Spain. But it was Real Madrid, the player's former club and still holder of part of his rights following his transfer to Osasuna last year, which stood in the way.

According to The Athletic, Real Madrid refused any possibility of seeing Munoz join its great Catalan rival, thus depriving Barcelona of a reinforcement tailored to the project of Deco and Hansi Flick.

While the two Spanish giants were engaged in a struggle for influence, Liverpool accelerated the file: the Reds activated the player's 40 million euro release clause to secure his services, beating Newcastle United in the process, whose interest was also pronounced. This operation allows Real Madrid to pocket a significant part of the transfer amount, while preventing Barcelona from strengthening with a promising profile.

Victor Munoz, who passed through La Masia before continuing his training in Madrid, is considered one of the most followed young Spaniards of the moment. Lively, hard-hitting, already experienced at the very high level of La Liga and a starter in the Spanish selection, he joined Liverpool where new coach Andoni Iraola could offer him a central role. FC Barcelona will therefore have to continue to explore other avenues on the market, with Munoz's profile remaining difficult to unearth.

It remains to be seen how the player will adapt to the Premier League, but many see him as having the potential to quickly establish himself at Anfield.
