Bari honors its emblematic striker Igor Protti by naming the Curva Nord after him

The mayor also explained why the stadium itself does not bear the name Protti: “The name San Nicola was chosen by the population during the inauguration of the stadium, because it is a symbol of identity for the city. Asked about future tributes, Vito Leccese recalled the recent inauguration of a mural dedicated to Protti in the Poggiofranco district, which in these days has become a place of contemplation for many residents. “He was not only a champion in sport, but also an example in life. If the passion for football is so alive in Bari today, it is partly thanks to Igor,” concluded the mayor.
