Beth Mead joins Manchester City after nine seasons at Arsenal

Beth Mead has officially left Arsenal to join reigning Women’s Super League champions Manchester City. The 31-year-old has signed a contract which binds her to her new club until the summer of 2029, ending a page of nine seasons spent in north London.

Arriving at Arsenal in January 2017, Mead leaves the club with a significant track record: a WSL title (2018-19), a Champions League won last May and three League Cups. Before her time at Arsenal, the Sunderland native had come into her own at the local club, where she became, at 20, the youngest winner of the WSL Golden Boot.

On the international stage, Mead has 81 caps for England and played a key role in the Lionesses' success at the 2022 and 2025 European Championships.

I think City's style of play really suits me and can get something out of my game. Speaking with the coach, I felt it was a place where I could fit in, help and bring a different dynamic to the team, so it was a no-brainer for me. »

Manchester City has just had a remarkable season: the club won its first WSL title since 2016 by finishing four points ahead of Arsenal, then concluded the year with a domestic double by winning 4-0 against Brighton in the Women’s FA Cup final at the end of May.
