Chelsea looking for Marc Cucurella’s replacement: four avenues under study
By OnzeActu · · 2 min read
With the transfer of Marc Cucurella to Real Madrid, Chelsea must react quickly to fill the void left by the Spain international. Four profiles are particularly studied by the leaders to strengthen the left lane: Lewis Hall (Newcastle), Antonee Robinson (Fulham), Rayan Ait-Nouri (Manchester City) and Maxi Araujo (Sporting Lisbon).
The departure of Marc Cucurella, transferred to Real Madrid for an amount of up to 60 million euros, represents a real loss for Chelsea. The Spanish international established himself as a key element last season, now pushing the Blues to turn to the transfer window to find a credible successor.
Among the avenues considered is Lewis Hall. Trained at Chelsea but now at Newcastle, the young English full-back quickly established himself as one of the best in his position in the Premier League, with already more than 100 matches with the Magpies. Also courted by Manchester United, he remains difficult to repatriate.
Another possible target: Antonee Robinson. The American, who has played at Fulham since 2020, has established himself through his consistency and his influence both defensively and offensively. Although linked to the London club until 2028, he could be transferred this summer, with Chelsea seeing him as a reliable and experienced option.

The Blues are also monitoring Rayan Ait-Nouri, already well known in the English championship after his stints at Wolverhampton then Manchester City. Unfortunately, an injury last September slowed his progress, relegating the Algerian international to the background. More playing time could convince him to join Chelsea despite his current situation with the Citizens.
Finally, Maxi Araujo, the Uruguayan full-back from Sporting Lisbon, also attracts the attention of recruiters. A versatile player, fast and with a real sense of goal, he is however under contract until 2029 and should be the subject of difficult negotiations, the Portuguese club not being an easy seller.
The work therefore promises to be substantial for Chelsea, who will have to demonstrate efficiency in order to replace Marc Cucurella as best as possible before the restart. Case to follow on the transfer market.
