2026 World Cup: general brawl between Canada and Qatar after Koné's injury

During the Canada-Qatar match in the group stage of the 2026 World Cup, a serious injury to Ismaël Koné caused a general brawl and two expulsions on the Qatari side. Canada won 4-0 thanks, in particular, to doubles from Jonathan David and a goal from Kyle Larin.

In the 55th minute, the Canadian midfielder had to leave the pitch on a stretcher after a violent contact. This event served as a trigger for a violent altercation involving not only the starters, but also the substitutes and members of the staff of the two selections. Chilean referee Cristian Garay had to intervene firmly to restore order.

The tension was already palpable: Qatar had lost their defender Homam Al-Amin, sent off after a direct red card in the 33rd minute. Moments later, it was Assim Madibo who was sent off, leaving the Qataris nine against eleven.
On a sporting level, Canada progressed with goals from Kyle Larin, a double from Jonathan David and an achievement from Nathan-Dylan Saliba. This victory follows the draw against Bosnia-Herzegovina (1-1) on the first day, while Qatar also shared the points with Switzerland (1-1).
The 2026 World Cup, co-organized by the United States, Canada and Mexico, has been in full swing since June 11. Remember that Argentina is still the title holder after its victory in the final against France in 2022.
