FIFA has officially admitted an anomaly in the management of ticketing for the 2026 World Cup, after nearly 60 supporters received tickets marked at $0 following a payment incident. The organization clarified that places remain reserved, inviting affected fans to make the correct payment within seven days, particularly for matches in Toronto.
Less than two weeks before the opening of the 2026 World Cup, an incident in the official FIFA ticket office has made headlines. Nearly 60 supporters were allocated, for a short time, seats for the World Cup at a price of 0 dollars due to a malfunction during online payment.
The incident, which occurred on Wednesday June 3, relaunched the debate on the management of ticket sales for this record edition, which will bring together 48 nations and 104 matches between the United States, Canada and Mexico. While demand for tournament matches has never been greater, particularly in Toronto – one of the main host sites in Canada – this error was immediately spotted by FIFA authorities.
In an official press release, the International Federation confirmed that this display of “free” tickets was the result of a problem during the validation of orders: “FIFA confirms that approximately 60 supporters of the 2026 World Cup received, on June 3, a notification for places allocated free of charge ($0) due to a payment incident. »

However, no free ticket in sight: “The places requested by these supporters remain reserved and those concerned have been asked to pay the exact amount. FIFA regrets this error and any inconvenience caused. » Those affected have seven days to finalize their payment, otherwise their places will be put back on the market.
