Thomas Christiansen, coach of Panama, expressed his pride in his players after the narrow defeat (0-1) against Croatia in the second match of the group stage of the 2026 World Cup. Despite the elimination, he especially remembers the courage and resistance of his team.
On the second day of Group L at the 2026 World Cup, Panama lost by the smallest of margins against Croatia (0-1). At the end of the match, coach Thomas Christiansen congratulated his men on their performance, despite the unfavorable outcome.

“We delivered a great performance. The players gave everything until the end, without ever betraying their principles. I'm very proud of them, they gave everything against a good Croatian team. We were not inferior, sometimes football is played on details. Croatia had a clear opportunity and knew how to make it happen. Overall, they did not put us in real danger,” Christiansen said after the match, relayed by the official FIFA website.
With this second consecutive defeat, Panama remains last in Group L and no longer has the possibility of reaching the round of 16. Croatia, for its part, takes third place with three points, behind England and Ghana, who each have four units and dominate the group standings.
