Egor Kornev confirms that he will not support any selection at the 2026 World Cup

Russian swimmer Egor Kornev has assured that he will not watch the 2026 World Cup regularly and will not support any selection, instead inviting the public to take an interest in swimming.
Egor Kornev, 2025 world champion in the medley relay and author of five national records during the last Russian Championship in Kazan, explained that he did not plan to follow or support a team during the 2026 Football World Cup. Questioned by the TASS agency, the swimmer was clear: “Honestly, I don't watch football. My friends follow. The 2026 World Cup began on June 11 and runs until July 19, on the territory of three countries – Canada, the United States and Mexico – in an expanded format which brings together 48 teams, the largest number in the history of the competition. Kornev, who is currently shining in swimming after his performances in Kazan, prefers to keep the focus on his sport rather than getting involved in following world football.
