With one year to go until Rodri's contract with Manchester City ends, speculation about the Spanish midfielder's future is fueling transfer window news. Rodri, a true centerpiece of the Citizen midfield and recent world champion with the Spanish national team, is announced, by certain media, as a potential starter during the next transfer market.

Asked about this hot topic, Manchester City coach Enzo Maresca was reassuring. The Italian technician explained that he had no particular concerns about Rodri's contractual situation and was keen to recall the importance of the player within the squad. “I think every coach would dream of having Rodri in their team,” he commented at a press conference after Spain’s victory at the World Cup.

Maresca insisted on the club's stability and determination to maintain its defensive midfielder, a pillar of the team for several seasons and a great architect of the citizens' recent successes, whether in the English championship or on the European scene. Arriving in 2019 from Atlético de Madrid, Rodri has established himself as one of the best midfielders on the continent, winning several titles with City, including the Champions League.

The City technician also took the opportunity to salute Rodri's performances during the last World Cup, crowned with La Roja. His central role in the Spanish game has only reinforced his value in the eyes of the biggest teams, but also Manchester City's determination to extend the adventure with the Spanish international.

The club's management has, for the moment, not given clear indications regarding a renewal, but the official position remains calm, while the summer transfer window approaches and media pressure builds around certain executives. For Maresca, Rodri is essential to City, thus putting the departure rumors on the back burner.

In this context of uncertainty characteristic of the end of the contract, it is appropriate to recall the solidity of the sporting project of the Citizens, wishing to build their future around confirmed leaders. It remains to be seen whether Enzo Maresca's stated will will succeed in completely extinguishing speculation in the coming months.

The rest

With one year remaining on his contract, Manchester City could consider extending Rodri's deal to secure his future at the club. Discussions around his contract should intensify, especially if departure rumors persist. In the meantime, Rodri will continue to play a vital role in City's ambitions in the Premier League and on the European stage.
