Everton relaunch the Emil Holm (Bologna) track despite his injury history

Everton are showing renewed interest in Bologna's Swedish right-back Emil Holm after a disappointing loan spell at Juventus due to injuries. Several English clubs are in the running and Bologna hope that the player's participation in the World Cup will increase his value on the market.
Everton are increasing their attempts to secure the services of Emil Holm, Swedish right back belonging to Bologna FC. Already targeted during the last winter transfer window, Holm remains a priority for the Toffees as the summer window approaches. According to information relayed by Il Resto Del Carlino and Sport Witness, England would be the preferred destination for the 26-year-old player, who is coming out of a mixed loan at Juventus.
Holm only played seven games in the Turin jersey, mainly coming off the bench, before the Old Lady decided not to exercise her purchase option estimated at 16 million euros. Back in Bologna, where he has two years left on his contract, the Italian club seems willing to let him leave, disappointed by the Swede's physical fragility.
Everton, however, is not alone on the file: Sunderland, Brighton and Brentford are also monitoring its performances, while the English market opens its doors. Bologna decision-makers are banking on his recent call-up to the Swedish selection for the World Cup in order to further promote their player.
Holm, who has 16 caps for Sweden, was hampered by four separate injuries during the 2024/25 Serie A season, nevertheless finishing with one goal and four assists in 17 appearances. A new problem with his foot during his time at Juventus added to his physical problems.
On the Everton side, the need for a specialist on the right is pressing: Nathan Patterson still appears too tight for the position, while Jake O'Brien, a trained central defender, has often helped out on the flank without convincing. Faced with Holm's physical uncertainties, the Toffees management would consider a loan with a purchase option conditional on presence criteria in order to limit the financial risks of a direct transfer.
Emil Holm's situation could therefore change in the coming weeks, especially if the player shines during the World Cup, potentially sparking a bidding war between English clubs wishing to strengthen their right lane.
