Everton wants to extend Idrissa Gueye and targets Hayden Hackney to strengthen their midfielder

Everton is currently in discussions with Idrissa Gueye to extend the Senegalese midfielder's lease, whose contract ends at the end of this month. The club thus wishes to secure the services of the veteran for an eighth season, the fifth since his return from Paris Saint-Germain in 2021.

Author of 25 appearances this season in the Toffees jersey, Gueye saw his campaign marked by a suspension following an unusual gesture of humor towards his teammate Michael Keane during a victory at Old Trafford. His year was also highlighted by his participation in the World Cup with Senegal and the African Cup of Nations, which the Teranga Lions initially won before losing the title for administrative reasons.

In total, the defensive midfielder has scored 10 goals in 236 games for Everton and has recently partnered James Garner in midfield.

At the same time, the Everton leaders want to strengthen their midfield and are closely targeting Hayden Hackney, the Middlesbrough midfielder and elected player of the year in the Championship.
