Excelsior recruits promising Quick Boys striker David Garden

Excelsior has added valuable offensive reinforcement with the signing of David Garden, a 22-year-old striker from Quick Boys, current Tweede Divisie champions. This transfer constitutes an important step in the career of this player, trained in the training centers of Sparta Rotterdam, Almere City and FC Eindhoven.

Last year, Garden stood out at Quick Boys with a total of ten goals and three assists. This performance attracted the attention of several professional clubs, including Go Ahead Eagles, with whom he also spoke recently. Ultimately, it was Excelsior who was able to convince the young striker to take on a new challenge at the highest Dutch level.

David Garden has signed a two-year contract with an option for a further year, demonstrating the club's confidence in his abilities. Mark Ruijl, technical director of Excelsior, spoke about this recruit, highlighting his rapid impact during his last season: “David played with several professional clubs from a young age and was able to get noticed quickly after his arrival at Quick Boys. He is ready for this new level. His profile and his versatility in attack will offer us more combinations in the offensive sector. The departure of Jerolldino Bergraaf left a void that we intend to fill effectively with him. We are convinced that he will be able to continue to progress with us and strengthen the team. »

On the Quick Boys side, Garden's departure is regretted, both on a sporting and human level. Technical director Gert Pluimgraaff was keen to emphasize: “It's a loss for us because David is not only a talented player but also a person who is perfectly integrated into the club. His character, his commitment and his involvement were essential last season. However, we understand that the opportunity at Excelsior represents a major stepping stone in his career and we wish him the best. We will follow its development with interest.”

David Garden is not the first to make the jump from Quick Boys to professional football. Several players such as Dirk Kuijt, Sem van Duijn and Youssef El Kachati have already taken this path. This link between Quick Boys and professional clubs confirms the importance of the club in the development of young talents in the Netherlands.
