Fiorentina: Ruggeri as a priority, Udogie also in the sights for the left lane
By OnzeActu · · 2 min read
Fiorentina is working to recruit a left back. Atlético Madrid's Matteo Ruggeri is the priority target, but Destiny Udogie, on loan from Tottenham, could also land in Italy.
Fiorentina is very active in the market to reshape its defensive corridors. Dodo, whose contract runs until June 2027 but whose negotiations for an extension have stalled, is expected to leave the club soon — clubs like AS Roma and Napoli are monitoring the situation closely. The status of Robin Gosens also appears uncertain, he who suffered from physical problems during the last season.

With a view to strengthening this sector, Violet sports director Fabio Paratici is aiming for a major transfer. The main target is Matteo Ruggeri, left back of Atlético Madrid. However, the operation promises to be delicate, Ruggeri is coming off a successful season with the Colchoneros, who could nevertheless sell him to finance the transfer of Cucurella. The asking price is estimated at around 25 million euros, a significant sum for Fiorentina which must manage its budget.
If this track were to fail, La Nazione explains that Fiorentina could turn to Destiny Udogie from Tottenham, a former Udinese player. The English club would be likely to accept a loan with option or obligation to purchase to convince the Italians.
