Florentino Perez confirms Jose Mourinho's return to Real Madrid

Florentino Perez posted an image of Jose Mourinho in a Real 2025-26 jersey on X, confirming the Portuguese coach's return. The club has also made progress on several issues: Nico Paz, Ibrahima Konate and Denzel Dumfries are among the planned arrivals, while David Alaba and Dani Carvajal are leaving.
Real Madrid are preparing to hold their first presidential election in 20 years this weekend, but the campaign has not slowed down the work being done behind the scenes. Florentino Perez, in office since 2009, continued the sporting adjustments and several files have seen progress in recent days.
The Madrid club had already completed the return of Nico Paz from Como some time ago. More recently, Real has accelerated on two announced recruits: Ibrahima Konate must arrive free to strengthen the axis of defense after the departure of David Alaba, while Denzel Dumfries is tipped to replace the starting captain Dani Carvajal.

On the other hand, the question of the coach has remained unclear until now. Jose Mourinho had reportedly agreed a deal to return to the club last month, but the looming election prevented any official confirmation – until today. With just a few days before the socios vote, Perez revealed the Portuguese in a post on X: Mourinho appears wearing the Real jersey for the 2025-26 season. This is the first tangible public confirmation of his return, after weeks of reservations on the part of those mainly concerned.
However, it remains uncertain whether Mourinho figures in the plans of another possible candidate, Enrique Riquelme, if he were to win. For now, Perez remains the clear favorite in the presidential race. In the event of a victory, the club should act quickly to finalize the coaching situation as well as the announced arrivals of Konate and Dumfries.
