Gasperini wants to reunite with Zappacosta at Roma

According to the Italian press, Gasperini wants to reunite Davide Zappacosta with Roma this summer: the 34-year-old right-back, already with Trigoria, ticks the coach's boxes and could be sold by Atalanta for less than €10 million.
Roma are not only looking to strengthen their offensive sector this summer. In the eyes of Gian Piero Gasperini, it is also essential to raise the level on the wings. Last season, the only certainty on the right side was Wesley, while Celik brought regularity without always convincing in terms of quality. It is in this context that Davide Zappacosta returns to the forefront.
The Grugliasco-born coach particularly appreciates players capable of playing on both flanks, and Zappacosta fits this profile. The Italian, aged 34, maintains a relationship of trust with Gasperini which dates back to their years together at Atalanta – an experience also shared with Tony D'Amico, now at Roma.

According to Repubblica, Atalanta could be reasonable on the price: the Bergamo club would consider studying offers of less than 10 million euros for the full-back. It is a more financially sustainable operation for Roma and the guarantee of an already familiar element of Gasperini's style of play: solid size and sprinter profile.
In recent days, Zappacosta, whose move to Trigoria is already known, has even surpassed Dodo on the Grugliasco technician's wish list. The player's profile also seems less suited to Maurizio Sarri's four-man defense system, which could facilitate an exit and return under the leadership of Gasperini.
It remains to be seen whether Roma will launch a concrete offensive during the summer transfer window and whether Atalanta will accept a transaction below €10 million. In any case, the idea of a Gasperini–Zappacosta meeting is gaining ground in Italy.
