Hordi Thompson (“Orenburg”): the new quota on foreigners will strengthen the LPR

Orenburg player Hordi Thompson believes that the increased limitation on the number of foreigners per club in the RPL will have a positive impact and stimulate competition between players.
Orenburg attacking midfielder Hordi Thompson expressed his opinion on the tightening of the quota for foreign players in the Russian championship (RPL).

From next season, each club will be able to register up to 12 foreign players in its squad, but only seven can be fielded at the same time on the field. Asked about this new measure, Thompson declared: “This new quota on foreigners will be beneficial for the RPL. Foreign players will have to prove in training that they deserve their place in the starting XI. This will push us all to raise our level of play. As footballers, we will emerge stronger. Our task is to enter the field and give our best. The rest is not up to us,” reports Metaratings.
The reform aims to encourage competition and strengthen the overall quality of the Russian championship, according to the Orenburg player.
