After several weeks of negotiations, Inter Milan seem close to completing the acquisition of Djed Spence. The English full-back, long targeted by the Lombard club, could soon sign up to strengthen Simone Inzaghi's squad.
Why it matters
Inter Milan's acquisition of Djed Spence could have a significant impact on the team's defense, especially after the departure of Denzel Dumfries. By strengthening their squad with a player with qualities suited to Simone Inzaghi's 3-5-2 system, Inter aim to solidify their position in Serie A. Spence's ability to play on both wings and contribute defensively could also influence the team's progress this season.
Context
Djed Spence, young English defender, is targeted by Inter Milan to strengthen their defense. His versatility and defensive skills are in line with Simone Inzaghi's playing system, making him a preferred choice for the club. Inter have clearly made Spence a priority in their recruitment, after exploring other options like Moussa Diaby.
Key points
- Inter accelerates for Djed Spence: a close agreement with.
- After several weeks of negotiations, Inter Milan seem close to completing the acquisition of Djed Spence.
- Inter, decisive decision for Spence. Deal with Tottenham for 30 million and bonus.
This amount, lower than Tottenham's first demands which were close to 40 million, testifies to a real desire of both parties to conclude quickly. Spence, who is now waiting for the green light to join Milan, is expected to come and support the defense after the departure of Denzel Dumfries. The person is expected to sign a four-year contract with Inter.
The choice of Spence is part of a precise plan developed by sports management. Indeed, even if Moussa Diaby was among the avenues explored, the file turned out to be complicated in particular because of the high salary demands of the French player. As a result, Spence maintains his first choice status, with qualities particularly suited to the 3-5-2 system advocated by coach Simone Inzaghi, who recently replaced Edin Dzeko in this position.

His versatility makes him a significant asset: capable of playing on both wings, he stands out for his speed, his sense of defensive placement and his prowess in the transition game. These characteristics are valuable for protecting the rearguard and providing solidity, especially against the most dangerous teams.
On the defensive level, despite the efforts, Inter does not seem to prioritize recruitment in central defense since the performances of Pavard, already present in the squad, are increasingly convincing the technical management.
Finally, on the offensive front, no major developments have filtered through concerning Luis Henrique, and the priority remains focused on consolidating the back lines and the midfield. The arrival of Djed Spence could thus finalize this crucial project before the resumption of competitions.
Inter Milan hopes to complete this operation in the coming days in order to quickly integrate their new full-back into the squad before the start of the European and national deadlines, thus strengthening their ambitions this season.
The rest
With negotiations well underway, a deal between Inter and Tottenham could be finalized in the coming days. If the transfer goes through, Djed Spence could quickly integrate into the team and start adapting to Inter's style of play. This would mark an important step in the club's recruitment strategy for the current season, as they look to compete at the highest level in Serie A.
