On the eve of a major shock in the Champions League, Giuseppe Marotta spoke to reaffirm the ambitions of Inter Milan and clarify that no fifth offensive recruit will be hired this winter. He also took the opportunity to put an end to speculation regarding a return of Mauro Icardi.
Why it matters
Giuseppe Marotta's statement underlines Inter Milan's commitment to focus on their current goals, including the Champions League. By stating that no new offensive recruits are planned, he shows confidence in the existing squad, which could reassure supporters of the stability of the team. Additionally, the confirmation that Icardi is not in the club's plans ends persistent speculation and clarifies the direction Inter are taking.
Context
Mauro Icardi, former Inter Milan star striker, is now out of the club's plans. His situation raises questions about his future, as he has been linked with a potential return. However, with Marotta claiming that Icardi is not part of the current project, it seems that the Argentine striker will have to consider other options to revive his career.

Marotta first underlined that winning the Champions League remains a major objective for Inter: “Winning this competition is a dream for all clubs, and our group nourishes this ambition despite the difficulties encountered so far. » However, he recalled that the season is still long and that each meeting must be approached seriously.
Regarding the transfer window, the Italian leader was clear: “There will be no fifth striker this winter. Furthermore, regarding Mauro Icardi, long linked to the club but left out of the main squad, Marotta confirmed that the Argentine striker is not part of the club's plans: “Icardi is not considered in our current project. We continue to work with him as needed but a return to the first team is not on the agenda. » This announcement is a strong message which formalizes the end of the Icardi episode at Inter, at least for the period to come.
