Jack Butland to Hull City: Rangers supporter surprised by transfer amount

Jack Butland, Rangers' starting goalkeeper, should join Hull City for a fee considered high. An iconic Rangers supporter believes that this transfer represents an excellent deal for the Scottish club, given the sum involved and the context of the player.
Jack Butland is expected to soon leave Rangers to join Hull City, as part of a transfer that also includes the departure of Ivor Pandur to Glasgow. Stevie Clifford, featured on the 4 Lads Had A Dream podcast dedicated to Rangers, spoke on BBC Radio Humberside to share his astonishment at the amount of the transfer, estimated at 3 million pounds by the British press.
“Jack Butland is a fantastic goalkeeper, a real leader on the pitch,” Clifford said. “He always starts his seasons with a bang and has proven that he can handle the pressure of a club like Rangers. Despite some notable mistakes over the seasons, he remains a reliable goalkeeper and respected by the fan community.”

What surprises fans the most is the sum offered by Hull City for a player who is one year from the end of his contract. "I thought we'd get a million pounds at the most, given his age and his contract situation. To get three million, especially taking into account the investment made with Ivor Pandur, it's a great deal," Clifford added.
On the Rangers side, the reception of this sale is generally positive. After a season which did not allow all sporting objectives to be achieved, many believe that a renewal of the group of leaders became necessary: "There is a desire for change within the club. Jack brought his experience, but it was time to open a new chapter for the Rangers."
The transfer could therefore satisfy all parties: Hull City welcomes an experienced goalkeeper, while Rangers benefit from an influx of money considered to be much higher than initial expectations.
