After France–Paraguay (1-0) in the 1/8 finals of the 2026 World Cup, Joe Hart described the Paraguayan performance as a “total shame” and castigated the refereeing during an interview with Fox Sports.
Former Manchester City and England goalkeeper Joe Hart did not mince his words after the France–Paraguay match (1-0) in the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup. In an interview with Fox Sports, Hart violently criticized the performance of the Paraguayan selection.
“This Paraguayan selection is a total shame. I would have kicked my teammates off the field if I had been played like that, I never — never — would have wanted to win a game playing like that, and the ref was just disgusting,” Hart said.

France has qualified for the quarter-finals and will face Morocco there. The tournament takes place from June 11 to July 19, 2026, in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Argentina is the defending champion.
Joe Hart's comments come after a generally closed meeting, which provoked numerous media reactions around the style of play and refereeing decisions. These add to the controversy surrounding the qualification of the Blues for the rest of the competition.
