Kaj Sierhuis close to joining NEC Nijmegen after failed Cyprus move

Kaj Sierhuis will ultimately not join Cyprus, paving the way for a likely transfer to NEC Nijmegen, where he could continue to play in the Eredivisie after a successful season with Fortuna Sittard.
According to Soccernews.nl, Kaj Sierhuis' transfer to a Cypriot club will not materialize. The striker, a former Fortuna Sittard player, seemed on the verge of leaving the Netherlands but this plan is now canceled. As a result, NEC Nijmegen now appears as the main favorite to welcome Sierhuis and offer him the opportunity to continue in the Eredivisie.
After a convincing season under the colors of Fortuna Sittard where he scored 13 goals, Sierhuis chose not to extend his contract. Furthermore, an option in Greece, with Iraklis 1908, had been mentioned but for the moment, the player would favor remaining in the Netherlands with NEC Nijmegen.
The Nijmegen club is particularly attractive at the moment since it has had a remarkable season in the Eredivisie, qualifying for European competitions, which could appeal to the striker.
Kaj Sierhuis started his career at Ajax Amsterdam, where he only played three games before joining French club Reims. His spells at Reims then on loan at Heracles were not very successful, with only two goals in 47 matches. Since arriving at Fortuna Sittard in 2023, he has progressed significantly, scoring 29 goals in 78 games, making him an interesting option for NEC Nijmegen.
