The thirteenth day of the Ekstraklasa, the Polish football championship, ended with several crucial matches which shook up the hierarchy at the bottom as well as at the top of the rankings. The day particularly highlighted the importance of pragmatism on the pitch, where possession of the ball does not always make the difference.
The Lubin match between Zagłębie and Korona Kielce illustrated this observation. Despite Korona dominating with 75% possession, it was Zagłębie who opened the scoring very early, in the 4th minute, thanks to an own goal from Ariel Mosór, following an attempt by Marcel Reguła. This twist of fate sealed the fate of the match, the score no longer changing after that. With this victory, Zagłębie Lubin climbs to 5th place in the standings, while Korona Kielce remains 10th.
In Radom, this 13th round was that of redemption for Radomiak Radom. After five consecutive defeats, the home team had an imperative to win to escape the relegation zone. Opposed to Śląsk Wrocław, Radomiak was able to take advantage of opposing errors, notably thanks to Jan Grzesik, author of a double. The club thus won a clear 3-1 victory, reaching 15th place in the standings and leaving the red zone with two points ahead of relegation. For Śląsk, this defeat means the last place in the danger zone.

In a decisive match for the bottom of the table, Raków Częstochowa hosted Pogoń Szczecin. Despite a quick goal from Pogoń in the 5th minute, Raków turned things around in the second half with goals from Makuch and Racovițan, eventually winning 3-1. The defeat of Pogoń Szczecin, who had not lost since the first day, is all the more striking as it ended in numerical inferiority, notably with the expulsion of their goalkeeper Valentin Cojocaru. This victory helps Raków move closer to safer positions.
In the general ranking after this 13th day, Lech Poznań consolidates its first place with 31 points in 12 matches, distancing its immediate pursuer, Górnik Zabrze, who has 28 points. The fight for the top of the table remains intense with Legia Warsawa and Pogoń Szczecin, 3rd and 4th respectively. At the bottom of the table, teams like Śląsk Wrocław, Raków Częstochowa and Wieczysta Kraków are fighting to avoid relegation.
Thus, this 13th day of Ekstraklasa offered a spectacle rich in emotions and marked important turning points in the race for the title as well as in the battle for maintenance.
The rest
With Lech Poznań in the lead, other Ekstraklasa clubs, such as Legia Warszawa and Pogoń Szczecin, will have to step up their efforts to remain competitive. The next day of the championship will be crucial to determine whether Lech can maintain their lead or whether their rivals will manage to close the gap. The performances of teams at the bottom of the table, like Radomiak, will also be worth watching, because every point counts in this phase of the season.
