FC Bayern's young winger Lennart Karl was injured during Germany's final training session ahead of their friendly against the United States. His potential absence for the 2026 World Cup worries his coach Julian Nagelsmann and the supporters.
The German selection had an unpleasant surprise during its last training before the friendly match against the United States, scheduled for Saturday at 8:30 p.m.: Lennart Karl, promising young winger from FC Bayern Munich, was injured and his condition is worrying regarding his participation in the next 2026 World Cup. During the post-session press conference, coach Julian Nagelsmann delivered a cautious statement: “Unfortunately, Lenni was injured today at training. We will have to wait for the results of the exams. At the time, it didn't look very good. I ask for a little more patience – we are going to the hospital for additional tests. Don't chase him yet, he needs some peace and quiet. As soon as we have the diagnosis, we will inform you. »
The coach added: “The player must digest the situation, we too, and then we will decide what to do next. Everything will depend on the diagnosis. We hope to be able to continue with him in the tournament, otherwise we will consider a possible replacement call-up. »

Lennart Karl had an excellent first professional season with Bayern Munich, earning him a place in the German squad for the World Cup. Since his debut in March with the Mannschaft, he has shown a lot of offensive ease, notably during the last friendly match against Finland (4-0 victory), where he delivered an assist and was widely praised for his performance (rating of 1.5 according to kicker).
The possible absence of this talented young man would represent a big blow for the German team, which was counting on him to strengthen its attack and perhaps even for a starting place.
Another offensive player under surveillance, Deniz Undav scored two goals and provided an assist against Finland. However, Nagelsmann clarified that in the next test against the United States, Undav should not play more than 30 minutes in order to avoid any risk of injury: “Deniz took it easy this week, he participated in a few sessions and did the entire last one today. Tomorrow he will play, but not more than 30 minutes. »
