L’Équipe has revealed PSG’s position regarding the potential transfer of Yan Diomand to Real Madrid. The Parisian club criticizes RB Leipzig's pricing policy and expresses its refusal to overpay a player whose value has exploded following media interest.
Why it matters
PSG's position on the transfer of Ян Диоманд highlights the growing tensions between European clubs, particularly between PSG and Real Madrid. By criticizing RB Leipzig's pricing strategy, PSG positions itself as a cautious player in the transfer market, avoiding giving in to the media pressure surrounding the player. This situation could also influence other clubs in Ligue 1 and beyond, who are closely monitoring developments in this matter.
Context
Yan Diomand, who has enjoyed a rapid rise in his career, scored 13 goals and provided 10 assists last season, which significantly increased his market value. His move from Spain's second division to a striker coveted by clubs like PSG and Real Madrid is testament to his potential. PSG, while recognizing his talents, seems reluctant to engage in bidding wars, preferring to evaluate players on more rational criteria.

PSG, which had also expressed its interest in Yan Diomand, claims not to be ready to follow the financial game put in place by its Spanish competitor. According to L’Équipe, RB Leipzig would demand an excessive sum for their attacker. The German club would justify this high price by the spectacular rise in the rating of Diomand, although he was still little known a year ago, when he played in the Spanish second division.
“We are not prepared to commit crazy sums simply because a club has organized a real media spectacle around the player,” PSG reportedly declared according to information from L’Équipe. This tacit remark underlines an implicit criticism of Real Madrid's strategy, insinuating that the Madrid club is artificially creating price surges.

As a reminder, Yan Diomand played a total of 36 matches in all competitions last season, scoring 13 goals and providing 10 assists, statistics which confirm his progress and justify his attractiveness on the market. His market value is now estimated at around 90 million euros, according to the Transfermarkt portal.
This situation illustrates the tensions that remain in the transfer market, where certain negotiations are influenced by public demonstrations of interest from clubs. PSG thus remains cautious and refuses to align with prices considered excessive for a player still in full international emergence, preferring to wait for a better opportunity or an adjustment in financial demands.
While the summer transfer window is in full swing, this Yan Diomand file could therefore still experience many twists and turns between Leipzig, Real Madrid and Paris. The French club continues to observe the situation carefully, while preparing other avenues to strengthen its attack as major competitions approach, starting with Ligue 1 and the Champions League.
The rest
PSG should continue to monitor the situation of Ян Диоманд while remaining firm on its transfer policy. If RB Leipzig maintains its high financial demands, it could dissuade PSG from making an offer, leaving the way clear for Real Madrid or other interested clubs. What happens next will also depend on Diomand's reaction to the interest from these renowned clubs, particularly in Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga.
