Lisandro Martínez's apology highlights the importance of communication within Manchester United, especially after a disappointing Champions League defeat. In a tense intervention in front of the cameras, Martínez openly regretted that the club had not strengthened its squad to match the ambitions and level of other teams. “We had a fantastic season last season, so I expect more from the management. More players to remain competitive, given that other clubs are recruiting a lot. I expect 100% from our technical director,” he said.
However, in the days that followed, the defender tempered his comments and took steps back. In particular, he had an in-depth and constructive exchange with the club's management. In his own words posted on Instagram, it was “a very good dialogue, in which we were able to exchange our views in an open manner on the events that occurred on Tuesday.”

Lisandro Martínez explained that his passion and the intensity with which he lives football were at the origin of this brutal reaction. He acknowledged that his intervention was dictated by the frustration of the moment and that he had expressed his feelings “at a place and time that may not have been appropriate”.
Protecting the unity of the group is now his priority. “I am aware that my words at that time did not help this unit. I know that everyone at Manchester United is doing everything to achieve our common ambition: to offer this club and its supporters the success they deserve,” he added.
The Argentinian wants to put an end to this affair and focus on the goals to come. Next Sunday, Manchester United will play a perilous trip in the Premier League on the pitch of Leeds United, currently 7th in the championship, at Elland Road. The Mancunian club will be keen to regain victory in this important duel for the rest of the season.
