De la Fuente admitted that the first half was very satisfactory: “Your reading of the match is correct. We had a very good first half, but the changes made in the second half didn't help the team and we couldn't maintain our performance. » He added that the pressure of a busy schedule was immensely high, which prevented the team from maintaining the same precision and finesse in the game. “We are not satisfied with the performance because at certain moments we were under intense pressure, which we are not used to. »
On the management of rotations and fatigue, he detailed: “Finding the balance between the result and the health of the players is complicated. We do everything we can and pull out all the stops. We have to win, but the priority remains the health of the players. I hope we don't have any injuries. By Tuesday, some players will probably feel more fatigued, but our opponents are in the same situation. »
De la Fuente also commented on Croatia's heavy 7-0 defeat, which he considered abnormal: “This score is not normal. We need to understand what happened, because such a defeat is very strange. This defeat will probably give more motivation to the Croatians, as they are top players who will not be able to accept such a result easily. »

Finally, the coach expressed his amazement at the growing performance of Lamine Yamal: “His progress is visible day after day. When I saw his goal, I fell in love, I put my hands on my head, no surprise, just admiration. If he is the only Spaniard nominated for the Ballon d'Or, he is the best player in the world in my opinion. »
Concerning the good start to the match, he explained that the staff had insisted beforehand on a dynamic and dominating entry, which was respected: “The team started exactly as we asked. »
To conclude, he returned to Rodri's role in the Spanish tactical system: “His function is to bring balance to the team. When he has confidence, he plays more freely. This freedom allows him to advance further into the opposing area and be in a position to score. »
This victory against the Czech Republic constitutes an important step in the preparation of La Roja for future events, with a young team which looks promising.
The rest
