Mattia Liberali: a return to Milan under discussion after a turbulent year
By OnzeActu · · 2 min read
A year after leaving Milan on a free basis for Catanzaro, Mattia Liberali, brilliant in Serie B, is of interest to the Rossoneri again. Ruben Amorim, new coach, judges the profile of the young attacking midfielder ideal for his tactical plan. But past tensions remain with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Jovan Kirovski, still at the club. Amorim multiplies the exchanges with the player to convince him to come back.
Barely a year ago, Mattia Liberali left AC Milan, leaving his training club for free to join Catanzaro. A departure which left regrets among the Rossoneri, aware of the potential of the young attacking midfielder. Proof of this is that they had kept 50% of the player's future resale, aware that his value could explode.
In Serie B, Liberali confirmed all his promises, distinguishing himself as one of the best elements in his position, to the point of attracting the desire of several Serie A clubs. But the major information in recent days is Milan's stated desire to repatriate him.

The new coach, Ruben Amorim, who wants to install a 3-4-2-1, believes that Liberali corresponds perfectly to his expectations. Several arguments argue for his return: a suitable technical profile, a player trained at the club – an important asset for the settlement of Serie A lists – and a financially accessible operation, since Milan could recover him for 3 million euros.
However, a shadow hangs over this file: the complicated relationship between Liberali and certain historic members of the club, including Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Jovan Kirovski. Last season, when the young talent should have had his chance with Milan Futuro, he found himself regularly sidelined. It was ultimately Paulo Fonseca, then head of the first team, who started it from the start against Genoa. Despite an honorable performance, the experience was not repeated.
Today, Ruben Amorim is in permanent contact with Liberali and his entourage to present his project to him and convince him to come back and wear the Milanese tunic. The question remains: will he manage to dispel past tensions and convince a player who left the club just a year ago? Milan supporters, very attached to their “children of the club”, hope for a happy outcome.
