During the Champions League match between Real Madrid and RB Leipzig, José Mourinho made a notable change by bringing Vinicius off in the 69th minute, a decision which raised questions. After the clear 4-1 victory for the Madrilenians, the Portuguese coach returned to this choice at a press conference.
Mourinho expressed his satisfaction with the substitution, pointing out that only Vinicius could say if he was upset, but for his part he was happy. The Portuguese technician recalled that expectations were high for the Brazilian, especially in terms of decision-making, but he appreciated the defensive role that Vinicius had assumed, noting that he had covered his partners significantly.
The coach clarified that Vinicius' exit was not the result of a bad performance, but rather of the richness of the Madrid bench which offers several alternatives capable of providing something more.
