Official: Fiorentina thanks Paolo Vanoli and prepares for the arrival of a new coach

Arriving to replace Stefano Pioli in mid-November 2025, Paolo Vanoli achieved the feat of ensuring the maintenance of Fiorentina even though the team had still not won in the first 15 days. Despite this, the club announced that it would not extend the technician; Fabio Grosso is widely heralded as his possible successor.
Fiorentina officially announced today the departure of Paolo Vanoli, who took the reins of the team to replace Stefano Pioli in mid-November 2025. Called up urgently after a disastrous start (only four draws in the first ten days), Vanoli raised the bar and obtained maintenance in exceptional conditions.
Under his leadership, the Viola became the first team in Serie A history to survive after being unable to win one of the first fifteen matches of the championship. Despite this turnaround and securing his retention, management never seemed in a hurry to offer Vanoli a long-term contract, and the club confirmed that he would not stay.
In a press release, the ownership and management wanted to salute the work of the staff: “The ownership, management and everyone at Fiorentina would like to thank Mister Paolo Vanoli and all his staff for the professionalism, passion and courage with which they led the first team. »

The new president Giuseppe B. Commisso, who took over from his father Rocco, also paid tribute to the Italian coach: “I want to personally thank Paolo Vanoli and all his staff. They arrived at an extremely difficult time in our season, with the team at the bottom of the standings and still without a victory, and they had the strength, the seriousness and the courage to lift the group up. They restored belief, unity and cohesion, guiding Fiorentina to maintain conditions that no team had previously achieved in Serie A. Paolo and his staff will always have my gratitude, my respect and my best wishes for the future. »
The Italian media, for their part, announce the probable arrival of Fabio Grosso on the Florentine bench. The former full-back and manager has been credited with leading Sassuolo to promotion from Serie B and then securing mid-table comfort in Serie A, making him the touted candidate to succeed Vanoli.
Fiorentina is now entering a transition phase to prepare for next season, with the mission of stabilizing the team sportingly and administratively after a tumultuous period.
