Women's World Cup qualification: Scotland crush Israel but lose Erin Cuthbert to injury

The Scottish women's team produced a brilliant performance with a 6-0 victory over Israel in World Cup qualifying. Caroline Weir, on fire, scored a hat-trick and provided an assist, lifting Scotland's hopes to finish top of the group. The only downside: the worrying injury to Erin Cuthbert, who was taken out on a stretcher at the end of the match.
Scotland won brilliantly against Israel (6-0) during qualifying for the Women's World Cup, a result which fully revives its ambitions at the top of Group B of the Nations League. Caroline Weir, Real Madrid midfielder, was omnipresent with a hat-trick and an assist, illustrating Scottish superiority throughout the match.
Weir first set up Erin Cuthbert for the opener in the 17th minute, before scoring the second goal herself three minutes later after a corner poorly cleared by the Israeli defense. His ascendancy continued after the break: Weir scored his second goal taking advantage of a successful collective sequence (57th), then converted a penalty ten minutes later to complete his hat-trick.

At the end of the match, Lauren Davidson and Kirsty Hanson increased the score to increase the Scottish goal difference to +18, a major advantage in the race against Belgium for first place in the group and a seed in the play-off.
Despite this very good collective performance, however, concern hovers around Erin Cuthbert. Exited with a knee injury at the end of the match, the key player could miss the rest of the campaign, while Scotland must still face Israel next week to try to definitively secure their leading position.
