Real Madrid repatriates Angel Carvajal after a promising season

Real Madrid continues to rely on its youth and its training pool. After seeing Dani Carvajal, its historic captain, leave at the end of his contract this summer, the Madrid club caused a sensation by bringing back Angel Carvajal, a promising 22-year-old striker, who shares a famous last name, but is not related to the former captain.

After distinguishing himself last season with Real Valladolid, where he joined the club the previous summer, Angel Carvajal returns through the front door. Real Madrid have officially notified Valladolid of the activation of the buyout clause included in the player's initial transfer. The Castilian club also communicated the news on its networks: “We thank Angel for his professionalism, his commitment and his determination.” Valladolid wishes him every success, specifying that “this house will always be his”.

During his time with the Valladolid reserve, Angel Carvajal particularly shone, scoring no less than 20 goals in 32 games, which did not go unnoticed by Madrid recruiters. The young player even made four appearances with the first team in the Segunda Division, confirming his adaptation to the next level.

Back at Fabrica, Angel Carvajal will play this season with Real Madrid Castilla, the reserve team which competes in the Primera Federación, Spain's third tier. In the short term, the objective will be to establish itself in this competitive collective, with the aim of a possible place in the first team led by Carlo Ancelotti.

The arrival of Angel Carvajal comes in a context of defensive reconstruction following the departure of Dani Carvajal and the probable arrival of Denzel Dumfries. If Angel plays in a completely different position, his nickname could well make the Santiago Bernabeu vibrate again, this time through offensive efficiency.

For Real Madrid, this operation underlines the importance given to the training and close monitoring of its young people, a policy which has often borne fruit in the past. The trajectory of Angel Carvajal will be closely followed by the members, while the club is still seeking to build its future around its best nuggets.
