Rico Preißinger extends to Preußen Münster despite relegation to 3. Liga

After two seasons spent in the 2. Bundesliga, SC Preußen Münster was relegated to the 3. Liga, and yet Rico Preißinger will follow the club into this new division. Arriving in Münster in the summer of 2023, the 29-year-old midfielder announced that he would still be present for the next season, even if discussions were slow to begin regarding the extension of his contract.

This initial silence between the two parties, confirmed by the player and the club, is explained by a need for distance: “The downgrading of Preußen Münster affected me emotionally and it took me time to digest all that,” confided Preißinger, explaining his lack of response to the club's proposals.

With a necessary perspective, he realized that his life was in Münster: “With a little perspective, I felt that I had everything that was important to me here. The recognition from supporters and club members is unrivaled compared to my previous clubs. » This strong feeling led to the opening of discussions which resulted in a decision to stay and invest in rebuilding: “I want to continue to be involved here and find moments of success. I am aware of the difficulties that await us in 3. Liga,” he added.

Sports director Jan Uphues welcomed the extension, emphasizing Preißinger's essential role within the team: “Rico is a real pillar in our group. He embodies total commitment and team spirit, fundamental values ​​for our club and our squad. » He also recalled that Preißinger's time for reflection after the season was important: “We always stayed in touch, and the conversations showed his deep attachment to the club as well as his willingness to take on the challenges ahead with us. »
