Questioned during the media day with the Spanish selection, Rodri, midfielder of Manchester City, acknowledged the rumors sending him to Real Madrid while affirming that he is focused on the World Cup and that a decision on his future will be taken after the tournament.
Rodri, one of the executives of Manchester City, has been regularly associated with Real Madrid as part of a possible transfer to revive the Madrid club after a season without a notable title for the English club. In full preparation for the World Cup with the Spanish selection, the midfielder gave an interview to MARCA during the media day organized at the La Roja sports center.
“Rumors about Real Madrid? It's part of football. I am focused on my leadership role with the selection, that is my priority. I understand the rumors, but I don't plan to waste time worrying about them. We will see what happens after the World Cup,” he declared, without closing the door to a departure, but without giving guarantees about his future at Manchester City, a club now orphaned by Pep Guardiola.

Under contract until 2027 with the Citizens, Rodri also spoke about his physical condition: “I arrive fresh after a season that I personally judge to be good, even if collectively we have not achieved all our objectives. I feel less rhythm than in 2024, but I have also played fewer matches. »
As for the Spaniards' favorite status at this World Cup, he recalled the need to confirm on the pitch: “These are teams that we all have in mind. Being considered favorites must be proven on the field: labels count for little. The World Cup is a long and demanding tournament, you have to gauge the sensations match after match. We are very happy and enthusiastic. We are all in excellent health and we are starting to build our competition. It's an honor to be seen as favorites, but now we have to show it. »
