Stéphanie Frappart takes on a new role within UEFA and signs a new first

Stéphanie Frappart, a French referee recognized on the international scene, has obtained a new position within UEFA. After making history in 2022 by becoming the first woman to officiate a men's World Cup match, she is now embarking on an important strategic mission. Since its beginnings, Frappart has established itself as an essential figure in football, having refereed more than a hundred official matches. In 2019, she had already paved the way in Ligue 1 by becoming the first woman to officiate a match in the elite of French football. That same year, she also refereed the UEFA Super Cup final between Chelsea and Liverpool. At the 2022 World Cup, she once again made an impression by being the first woman to take charge of a match on this big stage. With this in mind, she succeeds Dagmar Damkova to become head of women's football at UEFA. The European Federation explains that in this new position, Frappart will participate in particular in defining the strategy for the development of arbitration in Europe. It will also contribute to decisions regarding the appointment of referees, the evaluation of their performances, the provision of technical expertise, as well as the continued development of officials for UEFA competitions.
