Unai Simón, Spain goalkeeper, achieves a historic feat by becoming the goalkeeper who has gone the most minutes without conceding a goal at the World Cup. He thus surpasses the previous record established by Walter Zenga during the 1990 World Cup.
Unai Simón has just written his name into World Cup legend. The Spanish goalkeeper broke the record for the longest unbeaten streak in the tournament's history, remaining impassive for more than 517 minutes, erasing Walter Zenga's legendary mark at Italy 1990.

It all started during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where Simón had already shown himself solid with the last 39 minutes without conceding against Japan, then during the entire round of 16 against Morocco, including extra time. The last bastion of La Roja continued this incredible series during Spain's first four matches at the 2026 World Cup, in the process beating world references such as Casillas, Shilton, Maier and Buffon.
This record also illustrates the defensive rigor of the team led by Luis de la Fuente: Spain finished the group stage without conceding a single goal and maintained this solidity when entering the knockout phase. A performance which will go down in the annals of world football and a major asset for Spanish ambitions in the competition.
