Fiorentina finally returned to victory, winning 4-2 at Sassuolo at the Mapei Stadium after a controlled second half and tactical choices that paid off on the part of the management. After almost two months without success, the autographs of the substitutes made the difference: Pedro Gonçalves and the Ivorian Oulai brought the energy and technical quality that were lacking in a team that appeared bland during the first forty-five minutes.
The first period was largely to Sassuolo's advantage, with Fiorentina only escaping thanks to Pellegrino's goal, scored in the last seconds before half-time and avoiding an even more delicate scenario. But the turning point came after the break, when Vanoli changed his lineup and started Oulai then Pedro Gonçalves from the bench, changes that completely reversed the inerzia of the match.
Oulai, aligned in the middle, brought essential defensive freshness. In 27 minutes of play, the Ivorian midfielder accumulated some telling statistics: three noted defensive interventions, an interception, a line closure and three recoveries, winning all of the four duels he played. His presence stabilized the recovery of the ball and allowed Fiorentina to move forward better: he totaled 18 touches and delivered seven passes in the opposing half, thus helping to refocus the purple game.

His numbers testify to his immediate influence: nine touches, three key passes and four successful passes out of five attempted in the opposing half. A bright entry which triggered the decisive offensives of Fiorentina.
The control regained in the second half and the effectiveness of the substitutes confirm that Vanoli was able to read the match and adapt his team. It now remains for Fiorentina to transform this victory into momentum, string together convincing performances and find continuity which has still been absent in recent weeks.
Beyond the result, this success above all represents a signal: the team has resources on the bench capable of reversing delicate situations. The rest of the calendar will tell if this evening at Mapei Stadium marks a real turning point for the Violets.
