Bonetti praises Mantovani and Agnelli, and talks about his brotherly friendship with Vialli

Interviewed by today's edition of Gazzetta dello Sport, Ivano Bonetti spoke about his experience at Sampdoria during the presidency of Paolo Mantovani. He considers Mantovani and Gianni Agnelli to be "the greatest gentlemen" he has met during his twenty-year career. “They were men from another world. Mantovani, when he recruited me, already knew everything about me, and it was the same for all the players. With him, we negotiated without an agent, and he always offered more than you asked. He wrote the amount on a piece of paper and it was settled. Then we talked about life, not football or money. How can you not give everything on the pitch with a president like that? »

Bonetti also spoke of his friendship and complicity with Gianluca Vialli, then teammate at Sampdoria: “We were friends, companions, brothers. Before a trip for which we were both suspended, we rented a private jet for ourselves and the supporters to join the team. Do you understand who Luca was? I could give you a thousand examples, really. »

Finally, the Italian midfielder also remembers his time at Juventus: “I have so many memories that I could write a book. I was twenty years old, it was an honor to join a team of champions. From management to players to training, each session was a lesson in style and class. »
