Joel Veltman leaves Brighton, Michael Svoboda arrives from Venice

After a remarkable adventure of six years and 191 matches in all competitions, Joel Veltman bids farewell to Brighton. In the process, the Seagulls strengthen their defense with the arrival of Austrian Michael Svoboda from Venice.
Brighton & Hove Albion has formalized the departure of Joel Veltman, Dutch defender who arrived in 2020 from Ajax. Free from any contract, Veltman leaves the club after 191 appearances, including 165 in the Premier League. During his time there, he contributed to the club's progress, notably participating in the historic qualification for the European Cup during the 2022-23 season, first under Roberto De Zerbi, then again last season under the management of Fabian Hurzeler.
Chairman Tony Bloom praised his involvement: “Joel has been a fantastic player during his six years with us. We knew his arrival was a real success, and he delivered on and off the pitch. He was a key element in our progress, especially during the European qualifying season. »

To compensate for this departure, Brighton quickly reacted by recruiting Michael Svoboda. The Austrian defender arrives from Venice after his release clause of 5 million euros was lifted. Brighton continues to strengthen its defensive lines, also with the arrival of Pascal Struijk from Leeds for around 20 million pounds. Furthermore, young Luka Vuskovic, currently at Tottenham, could soon sign for the Seagulls.
The club is therefore preparing for the next financial year with new ambitions and a revamped defensive sector.
