Fran Garcia has officially left Real Madrid to join Real Betis. The Spanish defender signed a four-year contract with the Verdiblancos, thus concluding the end of his Madrid adventure, and allowing the Merengue club to pocket 4 million euros.
Why it matters
Fran Garcia's departure to Real Betis represents a significant step in his career, offering him the opportunity to play a key role in a La Liga team. This transfer also allows Real Madrid to recover compensation of 4 million euros, which is wise for a player whose contract was about to expire. By integrating Garcia, Real Betis strengthens its defense while benefiting from the experience of a player trained at Casa Blanca.
Context
Fran Garcia, after training at Real Madrid, proved himself at Rayo Vallecano before returning to the Merengues. His transfer to Real Betis illustrates the dynamics of the La Liga transfer market, where clubs seek to optimize their squads while promoting player development.
Key points

- Fran Garcia has officially left Real Madrid to join Real Betis.
- The club remains central to Real Madrid's plans.
In a statement, Real Madrid confirmed the agreement, specifying: “Real Madrid CF and Real Betis Balompié have agreed on the transfer of our player Real Madrid's move. » According to the information reported, the transaction includes compensation of 4 million euros for the benefit of Real Madrid, which cedes 50% of the economic rights of the player – an amount considered interesting for a player who only had one year of contract with the European champions.
The La Liga side, which was bought by Real Madrid from Rayo Vallecano four years ago after a period of rise at Vallecas, was no longer part of the plans of new Merengue coach Jose Mourinho. The arrival of Marc Cucurella from Chelsea and the confirmation of Alvaro Carreras in the squad have definitively closed the horizon of the young full-back within the White House.
During his two stints at Real Madrid, La Liga club played 110 matches in the white jersey, scoring three goals and providing thirteen assists. His track record is already well-stocked: a Champions League, a Club World Cup, a European Super Cup, a La Liga and a Spanish Super Cup.
For Real Betis, this is a significant reinforcement on the left flank, while the Andalusian club aspires to play the leading roles in La Liga and aims for European qualification next season. The arrival of Garcia brings notable experience to Manuel Pellegrini's group, which will thus be able to count on a reliable full-back who is already experienced at the high level.
At the dawn of the recovery, this arrival also confirms Betis' desire to continue its transformation and offer its supporters a competitive squad. The signing, for his part, will be keen to establish himself in Seville and relaunch his career far from the fierce competition of Real Madrid.
The rest
With Fran Garcia now at Real Betis, he is expected to quickly establish himself as a starter in the Sevilla defense. The club could also look to strengthen other positions during the summer transfer window, focusing on signings that complement the squad. For Real Madrid, the acquisition of Marc Cucurella and the retention of Alvaro Carreras suggest a desire to renew the squad and focus on the development of young talents.
