Six finalists for PFA Player of the Year: Rice, Gabriel, Raya, Fernandes, Haaland and Cherki

The list of nominees for the prestigious Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) Men's Player of the Year award has been revealed. Three Arsenal players are among the candidates: midfielder Declan Rice, defender Gabriel and goalkeeper David Raya. They are in competition with Bruno Fernandes of Manchester United, and Erling Haaland as well as Rayan Cherki, both playing at Manchester City.

Bruno Fernandes, 31, had already won the Football Writers' Association Player of the Year award this month, an award which often foreshadows the name of the PFA winner. The Portuguese midfielder recorded a Premier League record 21 assists, contributing to Manchester United's third-place finish.

For Arsenal, who won the Premier League title for the first time in 22 years, Rice, Gabriel and Raya were essential elements of the success. Norwegian striker Erling Haaland scored 27 goals to win the Golden Boot, while young star Rayan Cherki had a successful first season in the Premier League.

Last year, Mohamed Salah won this trophy after a 29-goal season, helping Liverpool win the championship. The PFA Award results will be revealed on Tuesday August 25 at the 53rd annual awards ceremony in Manchester.
