Rumors around a possible transfer of Erling Haaland to Real Madrid resurface after the statements of his father, Alf-Inge Haaland. While the Norwegian striker continues to pile up goals at Manchester City since his arrival from Borussia Dortmund in 2022, his name regularly comes up in the Spanish capital, often cited as a long-held dream.

The subject was revived on the sidelines of Norway's success against Brazil in the round of 16 of the FIFA World Cup, when DAZN interviewed Alf-Inge Haaland. The latter gave a measured speech: “He is very happy at Manchester City and has a long contract,” he first recalled, taking up the official position of the English club and the player’s entourage. A statement which seeks to reassure supporters and cut short immediate speculation of a departure.

However, Alf-Inge Haaland also recognized the appeal of Real Madrid: “We are waiting for the new season, but everyone would want to play in Madrid. You never know what can happen in football. » With these words, the former City midfielder suggests that, even satisfied in Manchester, his son could one day be tempted by the challenge of Madrid – like many of the best European players.

This media release comes in a context where Manchester City is building its squad around Haaland for the seasons to come. The new coach Enzo Maresca, supported by sporting director Hugo Viana, places the Norwegian center forward as the centerpiece of his project. The significant investment made in Elliot Anderson also demonstrates the club's ambitions.

On the Real Madrid side, the Haaland track has never been completely closed. After having already hit the headlines during previous transfer windows, the Merengues remain attentive to the evolution of the player's situation. For the moment, City benefits from the contractual stability and the displayed development of Haaland, giving little leverage to an immediate Madrid offensive.

Regardless, Alf-Inge Haaland's words maintain the suspense. In modern football, nothing is ever written in advance and the attraction of the Santiago Bernabeu remains a temptation for many talents from the Old Continent. For the Citizens, it is time to be vigilant, even if the future of the Norwegian striker seems for the moment linked to Manchester.

The rest

With the season ahead, Manchester City expect Erling Haaland to be at the center of their attack, which could reduce speculation of a departure. However, Real Madrid will likely continue to monitor the situation, especially if opportunities arise during the upcoming summer transfer window. Premier League football fans will remain attentive to the evolution of this saga.
