Como: Assane Diao in the hot seat, Roma knocks on the door

Como's summer transfer window is far from fixed: while the club has been active in recent months with several arrivals, it will have to deal with a particularly strong offensive squad and consider departures, notably that of Assane Diao. The Senegalese striker, who shone during his first months in the colors of the Lombard club, had a difficult season with foot and hamstring injuries limiting his playing time to just over 1,000 minutes and two goals in 17 appearances. This situation contrasts with his initial impact the previous season (8 goals in 15 matches), which inevitably influenced the club's thinking.

Como, led by Fabrizio Fabregas and its president Suwarso, must thus manage an overabundance of offensive players: Kuhn, Jesus Rodriguez, Martin Baturina, Addai, Caqueret – who can adapt to several positions – as well as the return of Fadera, who will also undoubtedly be repositioned or sold. Added to this is the imminent arrival of Liberali and the versatility of Nico Paz, capable of playing on the right. In this context, the club is obliged to reduce its workforce, in particular to respect budgetary constraints and anticipate its future commitments, including in the Champions League, where Comme is embarking on a season with multiple competitions.

Financially, Como does not seem ready to sell off its young talents, after the credibility acquired over the years, but a large-scale transfer remains possible. This is where Roma come into play, aware that initially targeted Mason Greenwood has joined Fenerbahce. The Roman leaders would have thus directed their desire towards Diao, seen as an offensive plan B. Despite a mixed season, the Senegalese striker's potential remains, especially just a year and a half after his acquisition for around 12 million euros.

The player's value could now reach 25 to 30 million euros, offering Como a good margin of capital gain. Contacts between the two clubs have already begun, while other teams such as Sporting Lisbon and Deportivo La Coruña, promoted to the Spanish second division, remain attentive to the situation.

The transfer window is therefore the scene of many potential movements for Como and Diao, while the club campaigns for a balance between sporting competitiveness and strict financial objectives. The summer promises to be crucial for the young striker and his future in Serie A.
