Roma optimistic for Pellegrini renewal: signing

Roma is making progress in negotiations for the extension of Lorenzo Pellegrini, says the daily Il Tempo. According to the Italian media, concrete progress has been recorded in recent hours and the “fumata bianca” – the signing – could take place by the weekend.

The contract of number 7 giallorosso expired around ten days ago, recalls the source. Despite this now free contractual status, the player's desire to continue the adventure in Rome would have remained intact throughout the discussions. The file, described as long and delicate, saw regular contacts between the sports management and the player's entourage.

Still according to Il Tempo, sporting director Daniele D'Amico maintained close discussions with Pellegrini's representatives and the distance between the club's demands and those of the player would now be minimal. This reduction in the gap on the key points of the contract therefore gives hope for a rapid conclusion of the negotiation.

The same source adds that coach Gian Piero Gasperini also pushed for an agreement, in order to ensure the presence of the midfielder for next season. Presented as a common desire within the club, this dynamic helped to accelerate discussions and bring positions closer together.

On a sporting level, retaining a player already integrated into the collective would allow Roma to preserve continuity within its sporting project as the next Serie A exercise approaches. Finalizing the file would also bring stability to the group and the club's summer recruitment.
